Mobo's for Mofo's

Postby Aim_This_Way » Sun May 17, 2009 10:52 am

So what kinds of boards do you guys use?

my Intel ICH9R southbridge on my x38 board caught on fire the other day, literally, so I think that's a clear sign that something needs replacing.

I'm debating between another x38 board, or an x48 w/ddr2 memory(because i don't want to buy new ram), or a p45 board because I only use 1 graphics card and can't do crossfire on an nvidia card anyways. And I don't think i'll buy an nvidia chipset card simply because i won't do SLI any time soon, and I like the overclocking abilities of the other chipsets more.

I'm looking at these 4 boards.

what i need is something in a LGA775 socket, with at least 1 PCI-E 2.0 slot (i look at 2, though like i said i can't do SLI on an a x48/p45 board, so its kinda a moot point), a memory standard of at least DDR2-1066, and good overclocking abilities.

So suggestions help.

:-x this smilie is still awesome..though it reminds me of how my southbridge acted.

It doesn't seem to be available anymore on Newegg though.

That is what I eould get. P45 over clocks higher than X48...has 2 pci-e 2.0 slots (true will only opperate at 8x in Crossfire). It is extremely well made has excellent layout, dual bios and runs cool, had e good manual and very good support. Asus has gone to shit in last year or two. X48's are too expensive and none have the 10r southbridge that I know of. I recomended one to Glimmerman and he absolutlyloves it. A lot of board for the money.

yeah that's the one i keep looking back to.

If ASUS won't send me a new one for free because it should still be under warranty, that's the one i was probably going to get. hopefully the fire did(n't)* kill my video card though..

* GTX280 is adaptable to my water cooling kit..285 isn't.. mmm kinky.
