WiFi Windsurfer Benchmark

Postby Dr_Z » Sat Jul 19, 2008 1:20 pm

Ok so im board.

I decided to make a post on the perfomance of my WiFi connection with & without the
Windsurfer parabolic antenna adapter.

Test Without the Windsurfer:

Test With the Windsurfer installed:

The results:
You can see i get about 6 to 8 dB m gain with the Windsurfer. You can also see in the
results I had a steady connection without being dropped--not like without using the
"Windsurfer".

So, if you are using WiFi, this Cheap little WiFi antenna adapter actually works not like some of the people on the internet that tested it and claim it doesn't work. They just
don't know how to use it... You actually have to point this puppy in the direction of the
AP (Access Point). ...Damn Idiots...

This looks pretty cool. I might try it for my daughters desktop.

hehe... I really like the idea of that... 15db or so for $10. Now if only I lived in an area with wifi access points. My router with dual antennaes and custum hyperwrt firmware that I can mess with the gain/boost with almost never picks up any signals where I am but I might still have to get in on this stuff cuz it's just kinda cool :)

I have one of those and it would just be retarded to see a big super antenna for it... it's only 802.11b though :( Here's another, cheaper mod:
